Project Computer Update

Alright, this should be my last update. I got all three of my remaining parts. The RAM I got is 4 4GB sticks for a total of 16GB.

I also got the GPU. It's a Nvidia GeForce GTX 460.

Then of course, I have the CPU. An Intel i5-655K Unlocked processor running at 3.20 GHz that my motherboard can boost to around 3.50 GHz.

And that's it. Now I just have to get some stuff to put it together with and I'll be posting the assembly video.

Project Computer Update

Well, I got a new part. And on the same day, my laptop's wi-fi stopped working. So I'm buying two more parts next week, and the last part on the week after. This part is the motherboard: a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3.

Here's a rundown of the ports from top to bottom: PS/2 Connector; 2 USB 2.0 ports; coaxial S/PDIF out connector; optical S/PDIF out connector; 6 USB 2.0 ports; 2 USB 3.0 ports; RJ-45 Ethernet Jack; 6 Audio jacks. It has 7 PCI expansion slots, as listed: 1 PCI Express x16 running at x16; 1 PCI Express rubbing at x4; 2 PCI Express x1; 3 PCI.

Since this PCB wasn't the original PCB I was looking at, I bought some parts that I don't need now. Namely, the sound card and the Ethernet card. I'll give you guys one week to claim the parts and I'll sell them to you for the price I paid. Leave your email in the comments with the part you want and I'll contact you. If they aren't claimed by next Sunday, March 27th, they're going on eBay.

Alright, I got my next part! Here's the power supply. A Thermaltake TR2 RX 850W PSU w/ Built-In Cable Management.

Like I said before, I need the GPU, RAM, motherboard, and CPU. If anyone knows of anywhere I can get these for a good price, let me know in the comments.

This next part is a Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB WD20EARS HDD.

I got it for $80, which is a lot cheaper than most 1.5 TB drives out there. Check tigerdirect.com and amazon.com as they are the only ones I know of doing this sale.

Also, if you guys want some input in what goes in this(I could use some help), I still have to get the RAM, PCB, graphics card, and CPU. If you know of anywhere I can get these at good prices, tell me where and what price they are in the comments. Links are appreciated.

This next part came in too many pieces for me to post a pic if all of it, but I will post a picture of the main piece:

This is a Corsair Hydro Series H70 Liquid CPU Cooler. Say hi. And tune in next week for the next part!

Alright, time for a new part!!! This time it's an ASUS PCE-NI3 Wi-Fi Card. Here's a pic:

It supports 802.11b/g/n at 300Mbps. Next up will be the Ethernet Card.

Also, quick update to how I'm buying parts now. My other computer is getting worse, so I've decided to buy two parts each week instead of one.

Alright guys, here's the next update. I got my sound card today, and I also got the DVD drive I ordered a few days ago as well. The DVD drive is a LG GH24LS50 Super Multi with a 48x CD/16x DVD read speed and 48x CD/24x DVD write speed. Here's a pic:

The sound card is a Rocketfish RF-71SDCD 7.1 PCI. Here's some pics of it:

And that's all for now. I'll update next week with the new part I'm getting, whatever it is.

Project Computer

Well, it's been a while since I've posted, but it's time for me to start again. I've decided to build a tower computer. I'll be logging my progress here, with pictures. I'm buying one part a week and will update accordingly.

Alright, the first week, I bought a case. It's a Raidmax Tornado ATX-238wr in Red.

The next part I'm ordering is a sound card. I've already ordered it and it's on it's way: a Rocketfish RF-71SDCD. It's projected to be here Feb. 10th.

That's all for this week. I'll repost with pics of the sound card when I get it.

I hate Mobile, Alabama.

Well, I haven't posted in almost six months, so I figured I'd let my readers (riiiiight) know I was ok. And now that I'm here, I might as well rant.

Well for starters, I'm a tech geek. I'm a gadget guy. If it computes, configures, or has a screen, you can garuntee I know ALL about it. Of course, this isn't bad. No, sometimes it's great when you help someone figure out something on there phone/computer/electronic device. What I really hate? The city I live in. I'm surrounded by a town of technologically moronic imbeciles that don't know a hard drive from RAM. I would love to be able to find someone in my town that knew what an API is. Or even how to format a memory card. I wish there was some kind of social website for geeks. I know there are geeks here, I'm just sure they're hidden. So, if you read this (I doubt it), please let me know. I'm gonna go work on that social geeksite, along with my plans of world domination. Dragon out.

Merry Christmas!!! (and Bah, Humbug).

Merry Christmas everybody!!! I hope everyone hasn't gotten overwhelmed with all their christmas shopping. I found some really cool YouTube videos I think everyone should check out. First off is the Adventures of Sam John series and also, Llamas in Hats. They are in their beginning stages, but still really funny! Alright then, I'll post more later. It's really late. Dragon out.

Oops, My Bad!

In my last post, I had said the new Dell Android smartphone for AT&T was an i3X. I was mistaken. It's actually called the 3iX. The link calls it the i3X, but it is the same phone.

First Post!

Ok, first post on my new blog. Like a noob opening his new copy of Halo 3: ODST, my eyes are wide with the thought of people I'm going to impress. But as we all know, noobs have no skill, so this will probably go unread in the eyes of that growing monster known as the media. But anyway, to the topic I really wanted to address: Dell's new Android smartphone, the i3X. This is going to be the first Android phone for AT&T, and even though I am an avid iPhone user and abuser, I think I'm going to wait silently in anticipation of it's arrival. I've seen specs, concept pics, and the like, and I can tell all the AT&T customers that have been victims of the phrase, "my phone does everything, what about yours?", and have sat there envious of all the G1's, Droids, Magic's and their Android brethren, this is your redemption! This phone has tons of cool features, which I will not post here because this phone is still in production and things are still subject to change. But, just to whet your appetites, here is a link to an article about it, complete with picture: http://www.androphones.com/dell-mini-3ix-android-phone-104.html
